CHIREC consists of a BoD (Board of Directors), MC (Medical Council) and EC (Executive Council).

 

BoD (Board of Directors)    

The Board of Directors comprises 10 members from the medical community (1 President and 4 Vice-Presidents) and 3 Independent External Directors. Meetings are held monthly or more frequently if required. Three permanent guests also attend the meetings: the General Directors and the President of the Medical Council.

The fact that the Board is made up of members who are doctors working on the ground, combined with the expertise contributed by the Independent External Directors on legal, political and economic matters, is a particular strength of our institution.
Working alongside the Executive Council and the Medical Council, the Board manages the Association effectively and its responsibilities include: the overall policy of CHIREC, coordinating the action of the various bodies, determining policies in relation to activities, appointing and dismissing senior executives and approving the accounts and budgets.
It is constantly seeking to hear about everyone's expectations and therefore regularly invites additional speakers to its meetings.
Within the various Committees, the Board of Directors receives opinions from various experts depending on the subjects being addressed, which allows it to make appropriate decisions.

MC (Medical Council)    

A Medical Council exists in each hospital; this is a legal requirement. The Medical Council represents the hospital doctors so that they are involved in the decisions made within the hospital. It is made up of doctors elected by all the hospital doctors. The Medical Council for CHIREC has 17 members. Their mandate is for three years and they may be re-elected.
The Medical Council meets at least 10 times a year, and its delegations attend the permanent consultation committees and the various committees that are needed for the organisation of the hospital.
Managers are obliged to request an opinion from the Medical Council before taking action in 18 specific areas.

The Medical Council also has the task of promoting quality in medicine and ensuring that it is put into practice.

EC (Executive Council)    

The Executive Council is responsible for the day-to-day and operational running of the Association, as well as for implementing the policies decided by the Board of Directors. It consists of the General Medical Director of CHIREC, the General Administrative and Financial Director of CHIREC and finally the Site Directors. The General Medical Director is responsible for coordination of and providing information to his colleagues. The Executive Council reports on its governance to the Board of Directors.
