The Medicine for Older People Department is an internal medicine department specialising in managing the specific needs of older people. 
We have 96 approved inpatient beds across our four sites.
Each of these departments has its own specific character but the CHIREC philosophy of personalised care is the common thread that runs through all our Medicine for Older People departments.
The Medicine for Older People Department at CHIREC focuses on older people who have become frail, offering them a personalised care pathway that matches their pace of life.
We pay particular attention to problems in relation to loss of independence, falls, memory problems, malnutrition, depression, social isolation and polypharmacy, as well as dealing with the presenting medical problems.
We care for our patients according to a multidisciplinary approach that combines our medical, nursing and paramedical expertise.
