Paediatrics - Description


The Department of Paediatrics at CHIREC looks after all children aged 0 to 16 years.

Our paediatricians work together with the gynaecologists and the various specialists within the Institution. The team has all the skills that are needed to deal with the different health problems that your child may encounter from birth to adolescence.

The following paediatric services are available at our sites:

Edith Cavell Clinic: paediatric emergency department, inpatient unit, polysomnography, neonatal intensive care*, general and specialist consultations.

Braine-l’Alleud - Waterloo Hospital: paediatric emergency department, inpatient unit, polysomnography, N* unit, general and specialist consultations.

Parc Leopold and Basilique Clinics: a paediatric on-call service is provided for children who need to have an operation and come to the day surgery unit.

Lambermont: general and specialist consultations

 

*  Neonatal Intensive Care (NIC): looks after very premature babies and newborns who need intensive monitoring and care.

* The N* neonatology unit looks after premature babies aged over 34 weeks, newborns with low birth weight and all newborn babies who have problems at birth (e.g. hypoglycaemia, neonatal infection or other problems at birth that do not require intensive monitoring).
