Workshops and information sessions

The teams from the Mother and Child Department at Delta Hospital organize a variety of workshops to help you best prepare for the birth of your child.

*Please note: these workshops are held in French only.

Getting ready for your baby's arrival

Becoming parents for the first time ?

The Mother and Child Department at Delta Hospital warmly invites you to join a special day of practical workshops designed just for you.

The concept

Through this innovative approach, our goal is to help you, before the birth of your baby, get familiar with the experience of caring for a nearly “real” newborn, thanks to lifelike reborn dolls.

You’ll learn the first essential gestures (diaper changing, bathing, swaddling, carrying), as well as positions to soothe your baby, the realities of starting breastfeeding, and the partner’s role during labor and delivery. These topics will be explored through four workshops led by professionals from our maternity unit, all specifically trained in these practices.

A conference on the theme of transitioning to parenthood will round out the day.

Through this event, we aim to help you become aware of all the resources and strengths you already carry within you.

Each week, a physiotherapist specialized in obstetrics leads a 60-minute prenatal exercise class.

Registration is available exclusively through our website.

Practical information:

  • Wear comfortable clothing and socks (no shoes in the room)

  • Bring a large towel

  • A locker room with individual lockers is available

  • Please arrive 10 minutes before the session starts

If you need to cancel, please notify us by email (infoweb@chirec.be) at least 24 hours in advance.
Please note that any session not cancelled within this time will be charged.

Expectant mothers and parents-to-be,
Would you like to learn more about how to manage labor pain?
An anesthesiologist and a midwife will answer all your questions during an information session.
We look forward to meeting you!

Regular information sessions on breastfeeding are held at Delta Hospital.
Feel free to come and ask all your questions to our lactation consultant.

This workshop is designed for parents and parents-to-be, whether attending alone or as a couple.
It helps you understand your baby’s rhythms, recognize signs of tiredness, and interpret crying, while respecting their needs and development.
You will also learn the basics of sleep hygiene and healthy habits that promote relaxation and safe, restful sleep.

Baby & Toddler Workshops

A baby’s earliest life experiences shape their rapidly developing brain. How we guide them in movement and sensory exploration is crucial for their well-being and future health.

In this workshop, you will learn the gestures and postures that support your baby’s sensory, emotional, and motor development. You will also discover how to prevent positional issues such as plagiocephaly or brachycephaly (flat head).

Important : This preventive and educational workshop is not suitable for children who can already walk.

Audience : Babies from birth to walking
Registration : Covers both parents and the baby
Led by : Pediatric physiotherapist

Through movement and playful motor expression, children are invited to explore themselves, express their inner world, emotions, fears, and challenges.

With the supportive guidance of a psychomotor therapist and one of their parents, children can revisit and consolidate key stages of their development in a safe and nurturing environment.

They learn to understand their body, potential, and limits, while expressing emotions directly linked to their psychomotor explorations.

This group also helps children develop relational skills and learn to assert themselves while respecting each child’s uniqueness.

Audience: Children from walking up to 2½ years old

Support for Parents Through Perinatal Grief

These support groups are intended for parents who have lost a fetus or baby during pregnancy or shortly after birth.

This shared space allows parents to receive guidance and psychological support. It also offers an opportunity to connect and share experiences with other parents who have faced a similar loss.

Practical Information:

  • Meet at the information point on the ground floor of Delta Hospital
  • Please arrive 10 minutes early; coordinators will come to meet you
  • If the first session feels right for you, attending regularly is recommended to help establish a trusting environment within the group
  • You are welcome to attend alone or with your partner

These support groups are free of charge
