Wrist surgery

Wrist Conditions and Treatments

Wrist fractures mainly involve the radius or the scaphoid bone. They can affect joint stability and mobility. Surgical treatment involves fixation using plates or screws to ensure proper healing and preserve wrist function.

Sprains and ligament tears, particularly scapholunate ligament injuries, can cause carpal instability.

Surgery aims to repair or reconstruct the ligaments in order to restore alignment and joint stability.

Wrist osteoarthritis can cause chronic pain, stiffness, and reduced strength. Depending on severity, surgical treatment may include partial or total wrist fusion (arthrodesis) or joint replacement to relieve pain and improve function.

Wrist ganglion cysts are fluid-filled sacs that may cause discomfort or pain. Surgical treatment removes the cyst and reduces the risk of recurrence.

Wrist arthroscopy is a minimally invasive technique using a small camera. It allows both diagnosis and treatment of many lesions, particularly those involving the triangular fibrocartilage complex (TFCC), while promoting faster and less painful recovery.

The goal of wrist surgery is to relieve pain, restore mobility and strength, and help patients regain stable and long-lasting wrist function in daily activities.
