Neurology Care
Neuromuscular neurology studies diseases affecting the peripheral nerves, the neuromuscular junction, and the muscles.
It helps diagnose conditions such as neuropathies, myopathies, or myasthenia, and allows for targeted treatments and functional support.
Physical Medicine Care
Electromyography (EMG) is a medical test used to diagnose diseases of the nerves and muscles.
It helps determine the origin of certain motor, sensory, or muscular disorders by analyzing how the peripheral nervous system functions.
The examination allows:
- Measurement of the conduction speed of motor and sensory peripheral nerves,
- Analysis and recording of the electrical activity of muscles.
This data helps the doctor establish an accurate diagnosis and guide appropriate care.
The average duration of the examination is about 1 hour.
The test is performed by a specialist in physical and rehabilitation medicine, using electrodes and fine needles to record the electrical activity of nerves and muscles.
Before the examination:
- Do not apply cream or lotion to the skin, to ensure proper conductivity.
- Bring previous test results (EMG, imaging, medical reports, etc.) to facilitate interpretation and comparison.
