Shoulder surgery

Shoulder conditions are common and can be highly disabling. In many cases, physiotherapy, with or without injections, provides effective relief. However, in some situations, these conservative treatments are not sufficient.

Our Orthopedic Interventions and Care

A clinical examination, assessment of your functional limitations, and imaging (X-ray, ultrasound, and if necessary CT arthrography or MRI) allow your surgeon to perform a precise evaluation and determine the best course of care, whether conservative or surgical.

Shoulder surgery may include:

  • Repairs: for soft tissue injuries such as tendons (rotator cuff tears), certain ligaments, or the labrum (pain, dislocation, or subluxation of the shoulder). These repairs are often performed arthroscopically by surgeons specialized in shoulder surgery.
  • Replacements: in cases of significant wear or end-stage osteoarthritis, prosthetic replacement may be considered.

Despite technological advances and the precautions of our teams, some perioperative or postoperative complications may occur:

  • Residual pain (managed by pain specialists)
  • Infection
  • Fracture requiring additional surgery

Your surgeon is present to ensure your follow-up, manage any complications, and guide you toward the most appropriate solutions.
